We are happy to announce that registration will be opening August 1st, 2020, for the upcoming 2020-2021 Ringette Season!
I know that many of our members are excited to get back on the ice and anxious to know what the season will hold. The WRA Board met and there were many discussions about how we can safely get back on the ice in this unprecedented time. Please know that we are governed by Ringette BC(RBC) and follow their direction.
We have already sent out the RBC COVID-19 Resource Hub link to you, and if you missed it, please review it here: https://www.ringettebc.ca/the-office/covid-19-ringette-bc-resources/.
To kick off this season and following RBC Guidelines Return to Ringette Progression, there will be an emphasis on skills and drills. We are already working to schedule power skating and other great training opportunities for our players. We don’t know what the late fall may hold but this is a great start to help our kids sharpen their skills.
There are many factors which influence how our ringette program functions; not just in this year, but in years to come. WRA needs to adhere to RBC and TORL Guidelines and pays yearly fees to both of these groups. We book and pay for ice time well in advance of the season starting. We manage a website and registration system which we pay for annually. As an association, we aspire to provide extra coaching and skills training from professionals each year to ensure our children are able to receive the best possible training. All of these factors work together to ensure a successful season, as well as sets us up for the future season. In order to keep providing the best opportunities possible during this upcoming season, the WRA Board has decided to keep the fees the same as last season, with a minimum $100 non-refundable portion. In this decision, we had to consider all the set-cost factors as listed above, in addition to potentially not receiving grant funding and the inability to participate in our biggest fundraisers (Pub Night and the Canucks Raffle).
The following is how we see the season:
• Fees the same as last season paid upfront as usual or per pre-determined payment plan.
• Minimum $100 portion of the fees non-refundable.
• If there is an unforeseen disruption of the season, the Board will investigate and assess further.
• Once registered, if your family decides this season is not for you, our WRA Refund Policy will be in effect.
There is great value in your registration fees - and this season will be no different! We will ensure your children are safe on and off the ice, provide them with professional skills training, and progress through this season with the most current information we are given. We continue to work together to ensure we get on the ice, sharpen our skills, are safe, and have a great time playing a game we all love. Please be patient with us as things change daily. If you have any questions or concerns about any of this season, please feel free to email us. We will be sending out information and guidance as we receive it. Thank you.
